There’s no one-size-fits-all in estate planning, so your strategy session will be specifically tailored to meet all of your needs. During your Session, you’ll go over different planning strategies and instruments – what they do, why, and how best to use them – and we'll answer any and all questions or concerns you have. Before agreeing on a strategy to implement, you’ll fully understand what it entails, why it’s being recommended, and the investment needed to complete your estate plan. If you want to hire us to create your estate plan, we’ll complete and sign our Representation Agreement which will set out the specific plan being created and the fixed fee associated with that plan. You’ll then have any opportunity to ask any additional questions you may have and you’ll be given a brief overview of the next steps you should expect.
Our team generally plans for 2-3 weeks to draft your plan documents. That time frame will be based on our current workflow and any specific needs you may have. We are certainly able to accommodate your needs. We will send you draft versions of your planning documents to review at your own pace. At that time, you may have additional revisions, questions, or clarification of terms. Our open communication platform means you don’t have to hesitate to ask or suggest. At the end of the day, this is your plan and we want you to be fully comfortable with the details and how it works.
After you’ve approved your draft documents, we’ll prepare your final documents to be signed and schedule your Signing Meeting our office, and on a date and time that’s convenient for you. On the day of your signing, we'll go over your documents prior to signing. The signing meeting usually lasts between 30-60 minutes. After your signing, you’ll be given your original documents along with additional handouts for your information. We’ll also send you a digital version of your signed documents for your records.
